Apple laptop was unthinkable for me at first. I felt nothing intelligent “Apple Switch” ads, and as with many fellow PC /Windows user, I thought that Macs were for beginners, graphics designers, grannies, and others who can not have more than one mouse button.
However, when I began my search for an affordable laptop purchase, I encountered many problems. The ultraportables and subnotebooks often lacked basic features I wanted, as an optical drive, and easily burn a hole in my wallet … several times. Thin and light seemed very attractive, so I researched that category more. Some of my favorites, are the battery Fujitsu S6210, IBM T40 Series battery, and Inspiron 600m Battery. But even those who liked it will not work because (setting my budget around $ 1,000).
Then I was introduced to a strange mixture of the above. Apple 12 “iBook weighs in touch under five pounds, but in the ultra-portable form factor. It is too heavy for an ultraportable, but it's small screen means that does not fit with the finest and lights. What really struck me was the price. Averatec Other than that, the only notebook that came with a price of U.S. $ 999, was 5 pounds. But like all other consumers willing to drop hard-earned money, I still skeptical.
I sat down to work and consistently good things about the iBook. Finally, Apple and Amazon gave me a sign. late October, Apple (Apple notebook battery) includes AirPort Extreme (802.11g) base and pushed the processor to 1.2 GHz also have an Amazon discount of $ 150 for Apple laptops. It did not take long to realize that $ 850 + $ 20 shipping was a very good agreement. I put my things in the following paitiently and waited.

First Impressions
No doubt Apple spends more money on the design of its competitors. Only box itself screams 'Gorgeous'. I tore through the packaging like a kid on Christmas morning. Among all the brochures, manuals and CDs, which finally got on the iBook. I recommend keeping the thin foam as a screen saver. < /P> If I am the notebook is turned on, I immediately filled with fear. In the upper right corner was a stuck blue pixel. I decided not to think about it, and will continue to review my new toy. (Note: All images are the Replacement received)
The laptop is absolutely great. If I had not seen the price would have thought he had iBook to be much more expensive. The bare simplicity of the notebook is impressive. Other than the obligatory Apple logo (the lights!) There's nothing but rounded edges. N bezels, no locks, no doors. When in my hands, it feels like holding a piece of polished marble. (in reality: polycarbonate and magnesium alloy) The design is actually superior. The press against the backdrop of improved LCD screen does not cause waves in the photo, or bend the screen between my hands. I would feel safe application of this notebook in a small backpack. The hinge connecting the screen is very sturdy and also serves as an escape of heat. The slot-loading drive is too cool to describe. Everyone gets by how the iBook sucks CDs removed. Apple says also mounted the hard rubber to absorb vibrations and shocks. (Apple iBook G4 battery)
I consider myself as a power user of the PC, and often have multiple applications and open windows on the desktop. I'm very used to working in a document, and then switch to alt-tab in a Windows environment. Fortunately, the latest version of Mac OS X shipped with the iBooks, Command-Tab is the same. What is more, Hotkey as OS X is easy. While the command tab, I can tap other keys to have made in implementing action highlighted. I cmd-tab to an application I no longer want, then press Q to quit it or H to hide. There are also open to the Applications folder and hotkeys My Documents folder.
The screen is very sharp, and more than bright enough for indoor use and outdoors. The lowest value turns off the lights completely. This screen is not the same wow-factor as the S6210 Fujisu, but definitely is bright and clear. Thanks to the ATI chip independent, DVDs run without any artifacts, and color is strong. There is also an option S-Video and Composite adapter available for $ 20. Unfortunately, there is only screen-mirroring. To get to the screen, stretching, there is a known trick can be used. As I did not I see with this feature, I'd rather not risk it.
